She sings blues, soul and everything in between, equally well. You can hear blues, jive, jazz, pop and soul in her music. She makes unmistakably her own music which actually surpasses the previously mentioned genres. Ratusz’s album suggests Etta James, and also conjures up images of a smoky piano bar. Many of her other numbers have a bluesy guitar accompaniment and a warm soulful voice that also resembles Bonnie Raitt. Peggy Ratusz has a clear life vision and brings that into her songs: love in music, that’s what it’s all about in life. She sings with true conviction with her convincing and very capable musicians next to her. In short, her beautiful voice captures you (by the throat) while her way of singing is truly remarkable. She draws phrases together, changing the melody with her voice and can at once express temptation, desire, sadness and anger. This is a dream-debut album. ....
